How it works
- Enter the details. Add the participant, workshop title, date, and host. Everything else is optional.
- Pick a look. Choose Classic, Modern, or Minimal, an accent color, and US Letter or A4.
- Check the wording. The suggested lead-in follows your choices. Edit it any time, or reset it.
- Download it. Save a PDF for printing or emailing, or a PNG to share or drop into another design.
Labels such as “This certificate is presented to” are in English. Names, titles, and other text can be in any language and are drawn with the fonts installed on your device.
What to include on a workshop certificate
A workshop certificate is a short record of who did what, when, and with whom. Check that each of these details is correct before you download.
- Participant’s full name. Use the name as the person wants it printed, and check the spelling before you download.
- Workshop title. Use the name people registered for, so the certificate matches your schedule and emails.
- Certificate type. Say whether it recognizes attendance, participation, completion, or achievement. They mean different things.
- Host organization. Name who ran the workshop. A logo helps people recognize it.
- Date or date range. Print the session date. For multi-day workshops, print the first and last day.
- Duration and format. Hours and whether it was in person, online, or hybrid. This tells the reader how much time the workshop covered.
- Facilitator name and title. A named person with a signature line shows who stands behind the workshop.
- Credit line and certificate ID (optional). Only print CPD, CEU, or PDH credit if the accrediting body approved it. This tool prints what you type and does not check it.
Workshop certificate wording examples
The wording sits between the participant’s name and the workshop title, so it should read naturally in that spot. Choose “Use this wording” to add an example to the certificate above.
| Certificate | Wording | Good for | Use this wording |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attendance | for attending the workshop | Confirming that someone was there. | |
| Participation | for actively participating in the workshop | Recognizing effort in discussions and exercises. | |
| Completion | for successfully completing the workshop | Workshops with a task, a quiz, or a minimum attendance rule. | |
| Achievement | in recognition of outstanding achievement in the workshop | Top results, demos, or competitions inside a workshop. | |
| Online workshop | for completing the live online workshop | Webinars and video workshops with a live session. | |
| Multi-day workshop | for attending all three days of the workshop | Bootcamps and retreats that run for several days. |

Frequently asked questions
What should a workshop certificate include?
At a minimum: the participant’s name, the workshop title, the certificate type (attendance, participation, completion, or achievement), the host organization, and the date. Duration, format, location, a facilitator name and title, and a signature line make it more useful. If you add a logo, keep it small. If you add a credit line, only print credit that an accrediting body has approved.
Is the workshop certificate generator free?
Yes. There is no watermark on the PDF or PNG, and you can make as many certificates as you need. Each one is made one at a time. For a whole group, see the bulk question below.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for. Open the page, fill in the details, and download the file.
Does my data leave my browser?
No. The names, titles, dates, and logo you enter are processed in your browser to draw the preview and create the file. They are not uploaded, saved, or sent to analytics. This page does not load analytics scripts, and it keeps nothing after you close the tab. Like any web page, it loads its own code and fonts.
Can I add CPD, CEU, or PDH hours?
You can type a credit line such as “0.6 CEU” or “6 PDH” and it is printed on the certificate. The tool does not check it. Whether a workshop counts toward credit is decided by the accrediting body or your professional association, not by this tool or CertificateJoy. Confirm approval before you print a credit line, and follow that body’s rules for wording and record keeping.
What is the difference between attendance, participation, and completion certificates?
An attendance certificate says the person was present. A participation certificate says they took part, for example in discussions or exercises. A completion certificate says they finished what the workshop required, such as a task, a quiz, or a minimum attendance. Choose the one that matches what you can stand behind, and use achievement only for standout results.
Can I issue certificates in bulk?
Yes, with a different tool. The free bulk certificate generator reads a spreadsheet of names, applies one shared design, and downloads a ZIP of PDFs. It prints the recipient name, course or program, date, and ID, so it does not include duration, location, or credit lines. This page makes one richly detailed certificate at a time.
Can someone verify a workshop certificate made here?
No. A certificate ID you print is only text, and anyone can copy a PDF. To let people check that a certificate is real, you need a record you control. CertificateJoy paid plans give every certificate a unique ID and a public verification page that shows whether it is valid or revoked. QR codes and automatic email delivery are coming soon.
